When talking about Major League Soccer many jump to bring up all of their favorite players or argue about who they think the best team is, but what about the coaches. Coaches’ while not having to touch the field is a very important part of the team. They are the people who decide on the roster and the plays used in the games which takes a keen eye and great skill to do.

So who do people consider the best coach? With so many great teams it can be very hard to decide on who the best coach is but here is just an idea of who they might be. In the number one spot, we have Bruce Arena. With four MLS cups under his belt and major praise for his motivational skills coming from former players, it’s not hard to conclude that Arena is one of the best, if not the best.

A strong contender for this position is Sigi Schmid. Sigi boasts two hundred wins for his team the Sounders, the most by any head coach. Sigi not only has one but two MLS cups won by two different teams. Sigi has led his team to the playoffs every year as their head coach, a first in the team’s history. This great coach was almost sacked at the end of last season but with such an outstanding record It would have been a major upset.

Dominic Kinnear is ranked third, while there may be some discourse on this one there is good reason for this pick. People may find that Kinnear’s style is not as interesting as other coaches but this organized style has been working in his team’s favor. Kinnear’s team has won two MLS cups and has even been finalists twice. Kinnear has many accolades behind him and deserves this position.
