The English Premier League was back in action over the weekend as all the heavy hitters looked to get back to winning ways after a disappointing week. The early kick-off featured Arsenal versus their boggy team Sunderland.
Arsenal had not beaten Sunderland in their last four fixtures, and the bookies had laid it on Sunderland with 3/5 odds of winning. But Arsenal came off the blocks first and scored a tantalizing goal from Sanchez.
But in the second half, Arsenal succumbed to a penalty after they were denied a penalty themselves. But with the depth in squad Arsenal have this season Arsene called on Olivier Giroud. The French striker scored two goals with his first two shots. Sanchez completed the rout with another goal ending the match 4-1.
Arsene praised his team and his quality for bringing home the win. “Obviously I am euphoric with the lads today, they put on a good performance,” Arsene said after the game. “Giroud is just back from injury, and he is already pushing for a starting place, so that gives me an additional headache.”
Another team that has had disappointing results in Manchester United. The most expensive squad in England fell further begin after a goalless draw with Burnley. Ibrahimovic and his teammates registered 36 shots on target for the game, but could not score even one.
Manchester City, the league leaders, has had a few shaky match days, but went back to winning ways. They beat West Bromwich 4-0 to climb back to the summit of the league. Surprise package Liverpool also maintained their momentum with a 2-4 victory over Crystal Palace.
