The Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Indiana Pacers in Game One of their 2017 NBA Playoffs first round series.

In a tightly contested game that came down to the final shot, LeBron James led his team to a 2017 NBA playoffs debut victory. James scored 32 points, grabbed six rebounds, and contributed 13 assists on the night. He also came away with three steals on the defensive side of the ball. He was assisted by emerging superstar, Kyrie Irving, who scored 23 points on 11 for 27 shooting from the field.

For the surging Indiana Pacers, Paul George led the way with 29 points, five rebounds and seven assists. Lance Stephenson came off of the bench to score 16 points. CJ Miles got the final shot of the game, an open mid range jumper that he freed himself up for. Many Cavaliers coaches and players call Miles a Cavs killer, but he missed the final shot. George, who was double teamed on the play, spoke after the game about not taking the last shot.

“I talked to CJ about it,” said George. “In situations like that, I gotta get the last shot. CJ took it upon himself. I’m confident with all of my guys taking shots. That’s not the issue. In that situation, I need the ball.”

Miles sat silently at his locker after the game until Pacers president of basketball operations, Larry Bird, consoled him.

“Obviously, we wanted to get the ball to Paul to be able to get the shot to win the game,” said Miles. “I got the ball at four (seconds), so I had to take it myself.”
