Randy Orton was the man of the day, winning the WWE’s Royal Rumble 2017 in a star-studded field. This was after John Cena made history by equaling the Rick Flair’s record of 16 titles.

Cena defeated AJ Styles for the WWE Championship in a classic bout cementing his legacy in the WWE world. As with all Royal Rumble’s, there were nail-biting moments, shock exits and all the action that makes this event a must watch. Goldberg managed to embarrass Brock Lesnar in the 30 man Rumble match, before being eliminated by the Undertaker.

Taker was then later dismissed courtesy of Roman Reigns when he made the mistake of turning his back on him, and Roman made him pay. Roman went on to remove Bray Wyatt from the competition and went ahead to spear ‘the viper, ’ but that is where his Royal Rumble ended as Orton responded with an RKO to clinch a spot in the main event of Wrestlemania 33.

The night’s title bouts in front of a 50,000 Texas crowd lived up to their billing, and special mention goes out to the match between Roman and Kevin Owens.

Reigns took a lot of punishment for most of the game which seemed to be no problem for him. Owens, on the other hand, proved that his character could stand alone without his partner Chris Jericho.

The Cena and Styles match was balanced, lasting 24 minutes, although the tide of the momentum felt like it was on Cena’s side the entire game.
