It’s a well-known fact that New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski dreams of seeing himself on the big screen.

And the idea that he might parlay his larger than life football persona into a career in the movies just took a step towards becoming reality. According to CBS Sports, Gronk has been cast in the feature film ‘Boss Level,’ starring Mel Gibson, Naomi Watts, Will Sasso and Frank Grillo.

Directed by Joe Carnahan (‘The Grey,’ ‘Smokin’ Aces’), the film centers on “a retired special forces veteran who becomes trapped in a never-ending loop that results in his death every day.” No word yet on what part Gronk will play, but it will almost certainly involve action.

Since the Pats Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, rumors have swirled about Gronkowski mulling over an early retirement to try and get a movie career going. It’s not exactly a pipe dream, either. A physique like his is a perfect fit for the action genre, a la  Arnold Schwarzenegger and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. And with the average shelf life of an NFL player getting shorter every year, coupled with rule changes sure to put more knee injuries in his future, now may also be the perfect time to get out.
