LeBron James has agreed to expand his contract with the Los Angeles Lakers to extend to the 2022-23 season for $85 million. Here are the highlights:

• James’ agent, Rich Paul of Klutch Sports, confirmed his extended contract during the first week of training for the NBA champions.
• Instead of being a free-agent, Lebron will play his 20th season in the NBA with the Lakers.
•  Even with James turning 36 years old in late December, the 16-time All-Star still plays at a high level.
• The Lakers are returning with a great roster with veteran add-ons, such as  Dennis Schröder, Montrezl Harrell, Marc Gasol and Wesley Matthews.
• As a result of the extension, James is poised to make over $41 million next season and more than $44 million in the final year of his extension with the Lakers.
• The Lakers have done a great job in rewarding their superstars in the final year to keep them there instead of going with a money-hungry spiteful situation. Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar are shining examples.
• James and his family are also getting comfortable, especially with his involvement in Hollywood production and his eldest son on track to graduate from the private school, Sierra Canyon.
• With LeBron James and Anthony Davis in a good pocket, there’s certainly a good chance for them to continue the championship ring momentum.
