Nick Saban said that he is not aware of Blake Barnett transferring schools.

Saban, the head football coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide, refuted reports that Barnett, the back up quarterback, has left both the program and the school. AL.com reported that Barnett has stated intentions to transfer from the school, making him the fourth Crimson Tide quarterback to leave the program since 2014. Parker McLeod, Luke Del Rio, and Alec Morris are the other Alabama signal callers to have left the school over the last three seasons.

“I know there’s a lot swirling around about Blake Barnett,” said Saban on Wednesday. “He did come to see me today before practice with some concerns about his future. Blake is a fine young man, he’s done a great job with this program and we’d love to see him be a part of the program in a future. But we also want him to do what’s best for him. I don’t have a final decision on that. Nobody has told me that. You may know more about it than I do, so I can’t make any more comments about it other than that.”

Barnett, who is a redshirt freshman and was a five star recruit out of high school in California, started in the Alabama 2016 premiere against USC. Barnett was replaced by current Alabama starting quarterback, Jalen Hurts, after completing 11 of 19 passes for 219 yards and two touchdowns in the lopsided win against the Trojans.
