Certain decisions are made with a specific guideline. In the case of the NHL, referee Tim Peel did a big no-no in Tuesday’s game. Here are the highlights: 

• NHL banned Peel saying that they’ll no longer need his services.
• NHL Senior Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations Colin Campbell said that integrity is one of the most important parts of the game from all aspects. Peel’s conduct was in breach of this character trait.
• Peel was scheduled for his last game as a ref on April 24th, so it’s really like an early retirement for him.
• The interesting thing is Peel is removed but necessarily fired. He’s still getting his pension after his retirement.
• What led to the decision was him saying, “It wasn’t much but I wanted to get a f-ing penalty against Nashville early in the…”
• The speculation was Peel wanted to get a makeup call in favor of the Red Wings.
• While some people are in support of the decision, others are saying that officials think it. However, Peel was the only one that said it out loud.
