Meet Michael Phelps

Michael Phelps, an American professional swimmer, currently holds the record for the most individual Olympic medals earned. Phelps is regarded as one of the finest athletes to have ever lived and one of the best swimmers to have ever competed at 6’4″ and 185 lbs. He currently possesses 39 swimming world records while participating in the USA men’s swimming team. Phelps, who is 15 years old, is the first male swimmer to qualify for and compete in the Olympics in 68 years. Phelps has made history and gained international notoriety throughout his career, from his debut at the 2000 Sydney Olympics until his final performance at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

A renowned swimmer at the University of Michigan, Michael Phelps started swimming for his high school team before moving on. At the age of fifteen, Phelps met the requirements to compete in the 2000 Sydney Olympics, where he stunned everyone by displaying such exceptional potential so early in life. With the breaking of his first world record in 2001 and the subsequent breaking of his records, he advanced to a new level. In addition to numerous USA national competitions, Phelps later participated in 4 more Olympic tournaments for a total of 5 appearances. He has obtained many medals from these contests, most of which are gold. In addition, Phelps, who has participated in numerous races, has broken close to 40 world records.

Fred and Debbie Phelps were the parents of Michael Phelps when he was born in Baltimore, Maryland. His mother ran a middle school, and his father was a state trooper. He has two elder sisters, Whitney and Hilary, who live with him in Towson, Maryland. They moved home with his mother, with whom they had grown close until his parents divorced in 1994. At an early age, Phelps and his sisters joined a neighborhood swim team. He attended the University of Michigan and was a four-year swimmer. In 2015, Phelps proposed to his wife, Nicole Johnson. 2016 saw their marriage and the birth of their first child, Boomer Robert.
