LeBron James disagreed with NBA commissioner, Adam Silver, on resting players during the regular season.

Many NBA pundits have argued about the issue of resting players during the regular season, but most of the hype surrounding the issue concerns LeBron James, who is the only player in the MVP race to have missed more than three games due to a coach’s decision. NBA commissioner, Adam Silver, penned an official memo that stated his stance on resting players as problematic. Silver demanded that team owners be involved in the decision to rest star players. After the memo was released, James was asked about his opinion on the Silver memo.

“I love what Adam is doing for our league, but I don’t see how that [would help],” responded James on Tuesday. “I don’t understand why it’s become a problem now, because I sit out a couple games?”

LeBron admitted that his sitting multiple games in the season was a large part of the memo and the hype. He has missed a number of games in March and did not play during a nationally televised game in which his Cleveland Cavaliers were blown out by 30 points by the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday night.

“Listen, Pop’s been doing this for 10 years, 12 years, 15 years and everybody was like, ‘You know what? That’s the smartest thing Pop has ever done,’ ” James said. “Give his guys a couple games off and here they go and win five championships. That’s the smartest thing.
