LaVar Ball says that his son has achieved something not even the great Michael Jordan could.

LaVar, the father of Lonzo, praised his son, who will likely be a top pick in the 2017 National Basketball Association Draft. According to LaVar, his son is breaking ground that not even Michael Jordan, widely considered the greatest basketball player ever, has broken. Jordan, with his Jordan shoe brand has sold the most athletic shoes in history. LaVar Ball said that not even “His Airness” could have ever sold shoes for $495. The elder Ball spoke on Fox Sports One program, Undisputed, saying that his Big Baller Brand had unveiled a new ZO2 shoe for the $495 ticket.

“Michael Jordan couldn’t command [$495] for shoes.” said Undisputed cohost, Shannon Sharpe, to Ball.

“Because he ain’t Lonzo Ball, that’s why,” said LaVar Ball. “Did he have his own brand coming in? It’s a new era called the Ball era.”

LaVar Ball has invoked former Chicago Bulls great, Michael Jordan in order to make brash claims in the past. While his son was starring at UCLA in the 2017 NCAA Tournament, LaVar Ball claimed that he could have beaten Michael Jordan in a game of one on one basketball when the two were younger athletes.

“Back in my heyday, I would kill Michael Jordan one-on-one,” said LaVar Ball in a March interview with USA Today. Ball averaged only two points per game and a little over two rebounds a game while playing for Washington State University during the 1987-88 season.
