Legendary boxing trainer, Freddie Roach, said that a fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor is imminent.

According to Roach, Floyd “Money” Mayweather visited him in Los Angeles, California at his Wild Card gym. His message to the trainer was that should Conor “Notorious” McGregor seek his training services to take the job because the mega fight between the two stars is bound to occur.

“Floyd actually came to my gym and told me, Freddie, I hear Conor talked to you.’ And I told him that he never has. He said, ‘If he reaches out and wants you to train him, I would take that job because I am going to fight him and we can all make a lot of money,’” said Roach. “So, according to Mayweather, yes, he said he was going to fight him and everything is pointing in that direction. At one point I didn’t think it was possible.”

The fight between the iconic boxer and the current Ultimate Fighting Championship Lightweight Champion has piqued the interest of both the boxing and mixed martial arts worlds, but momentum seemed to slow when UFC head, Dana White, said that the fight was impossible due to a contract between McGregor and the UFC. Now, the momentum seems once again to be pointing towards a big money clash.

“It looks like it is going to happen,” said Roach. “Everything’s pointing in the right direction. He will have his hands full with a boxer like Floyd, but he’s sell-able and making noise.”
