One of Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s bodyguards was shot outside of an Atlanta-area hotel early Monday as he traveled in a caravan of cars that included the boxing champion.

Police in Atlanta say Gregory LaRosa was in one of a group of three cars that also included a vehicle containing Mayweather when he was shot in the leg while the motorcade was en route to Atlanta’s swanky InterContinental Hotel, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. Mayweather was reportedly in a different car than LaRosa and was not injured.

Police said Mayweather and his entourage were traveling from a club to the hotel around 2 a.m. when an unknown vehicle pulled alongside the motorcade at an intersection and opened fire on one of the vehicles.

“At this time, it appears that this was not a random shooting and the shooter was targeting the victim’s vehicle,” said Atlanta police spokesman Donald Hannah, adding that LaRosa was taken to nearby Grady Hospital where he was treated for a leg wound and released.

Mayweather was in Atlanta promoting his Showtime tripleheader in Las vegas Saturday night and spent part of it at a packed club in the Buckhead area. The club reportedly posted video of Mayweather enjoying music as patrons threw what appeared to be money into the air.
