Golden State Warriors forward, Draymond Green, was arrested Sunday in Michigan.

The San Francisco Chronicle and MLIVE confirm the arrest of Green, who is from Saginaw, Michigan. He was reportedly booked on assault charges but East Lansing law enforcement officials did not go into detail about either the arrest or the incidents leading up to it.

“What I can confirm is that we did arrest a current NBA basketball player this weekend and he was arrested for assault. That’s all we’re confirming right now,” said East Lansing Police Department lieutenant, Scott Wrigglesworth, in an interview with MLIVE.

“BREAKING: East Lansing, MI police say Draymond Green was booked last night in jail,” tweeted journalist, Evan Sernoffsky.

“THIS JUST IN: Draymond Green was arrested for assault in East Lansing early Sunday AM, according to court documents,” tweeted SportsCenter.

Green was named to the USA Men’s National Basketball team for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio, Brazil, but he is in jeopardy of not being able to go as he faces a possible 93 days in jail and a $500 fine.

It is being reported that Team USA head man, Jerry Colangelo, was not aware of the arrest when he was questioned about the turn of events. He refused comment until he learned more about the specifics of the case of Green.

“We are aware of news involving Draymond Green in Michigan over the weekend, At this point, we are collecting information and will have no further comment until we have a better understanding of the situation,” said the Golden State Warriors in a statement.
