Even with the shortest offseason ever for the  Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat, the other eight teams felt it drag on longer. Here are the highlights:

  • With the quickness, the NBA is back with training sessions in play.
  • The mandate is on-court sessions will be limited to individual workouts and only for those players who have gotten three negative coronavirus test results back in the last few days.
  • The league said that some “group training activities” (practice) will begin in some cities Friday and for most clubs Sunday.
  • Trae Young from the Atlanta Hawks said he felt it was like his first day of school all over again.
  • It’s very strict with the rollout because players and coaches will be tested for coronavirus daily around the league.
  • They can’t even hold team dinner until Phase 4 in the league’s five-phase plan for health and safety.
  • Utah general manager Justin Zanik said the key is keeping everyone safe. They’ll test the schedule, travel, and see how things go accordingly. He said, “No one in the NBA, other than a three-month bubble, has ever gone through what we’re about to go through.”
  • It’s still a toss-up on whether or not fans will be allowed in the arenas at the beginning of the season, the regular season is starting Dec. 22 (full schedule pending).
  • On top of it being challenging, the key here is to try to stay coronavirus-free.
