Derrick Rose disappearance continues to be a mystery

Derrick Rose and the Knicks are keeping mum on why he simply did not show up for a New York Knicks game.

Rose was the 2011 National Basketball League Most Valuable Player but has been riddled with injuries since then, leaving many fans to rue his never achieving the potential limits of his talent. Rose has also made certain frustrating comments alluding to not playing as hard as possible so that he could be healthier after his basketball career was over. The myriad of injuries and puzzling comments from Rose set the backdrop for his unexcused and unscheduled absence from the New York Knicks team when they played the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday.

According to reports, Rose was with the Knicks during a Monday morning shootaround, but then flew back to his hometown, Chicago, to deal with what is being described as a family situation by ESPN. The Knicks were unable to reach Rose by phone prior to and following the game. Rose returned to the team on Tuesday morning.

“Derrick Rose has rejoined the team and has been fined. He is expected to be in uniform tomorrow in Philadelphia,” tweeted the Knicks Public Relations team.

Rose is expected to play in their next game against the Philadelphia 76ers, but multiple questions were raised about his absence.

“Abandoning your team in the midst of a midseason tailspin–that’s hard to come back from. Derrick Rose has a long road ahead of him,” tweeted sports analyst, Chris Mannix.
