DeMarcus Cousins spoke out about his trade from the Sacramento Kings to the New Orleans Pelicans.

Cousins, who was voted an All Star for the 2017 National Basketball Association All Star festivities in New Orleans, was traded on the day of the All Star Game to the city hosting the event. Cousins learned about the trade in the locker room of the All Star Game. Cousins and the Kings had been working on a long term extension that would have kept the uber talented big man with the franchise through the prime of his career. Although he admitted that he was disappointed with what he called the dishonesty of the Kings leading up to the trade, he expressed excitement about beginning a new chapter with fellow All Star and Kentucky Wildcat, Anthony Davis.

“Sunday was a wild day,” said Cousins at hisĀ  introductory news conference with the Pelicans. “Just a lot of mixed emotions. It was very unexpected. I sat in the airport for a minute, and my mind was racing. I didn’t know what to think. I’ve tried to understand the situation. Basically what I came to is this is a business. I’m not sour, I’m not mad, I don’t have any ill feelings. This is a business. These types of things happen. I’m comfortable with it. I’m in a good place. Like I said, I’m ready to get to work.”

Cousins now hopes that he can make the NBA playoffs for the first time in his six year career.
