A cousin of Chicago Bull, Dwyane Wade, was shot and killed on Friday.

The woman in question, Nykea Aldridge, 32, was killed on the South Side of Chicago while pushing her baby in a stroller.

According to authorities, Aldridge was not the intended target of the shooting.

She was killed when two men fired four gunshots at a third man at approximately three o’clock in the afternoon on Friday.

Pastor Edward Jones, a family friend, said that Aldridge, a mother of four, was walking to register her children in school when the incident occurred.

Wade just joined his hometown Bulls this offseason after spending his entire career with the Miami Heat.

“My cousin was killed today in Chicago. Another act of senseless gun violence. 4 kids lost their mom for NO REASON. Unreal. #EnoughIsEnough,” tweeted Wade.

Family and friends of Aldridge have also spoken out about her death.

“Just sat up on a panel yesterday, The Undefeated, talking about the violence that’s going on within our city of Chiacgo, never knowing that the next day we would be the ones that would be actually living and experiencing it,” remarked Jolinda Wade, mother of Dwyane Wade, regarding the death of her niece.

Wade and his mother have been part of a number of panel conversations held on the South Side of Chicago aimed at ameliorating their community.

The talks touched extensively on violence and called on all community members to speak out and act out.
