Cleveland Browns rookie receiver Antonio Callaway had gun parts and ammunition in his car, according to a dash cam video, in addition to a small amount of marijuana when he was checked by police.

According to Cleveland.com reports, Callaway will travel to New York when the Browns face the New York Giants in an NFL preseason game.

The Browns and Giants play Thursday evening. Callaway’s hearing is scheduled for Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in Strongsville’s Mayor’s Court, reported Mary Kay Cabot.

TMZ Sports obtained a dash cam video of Callaway being stopped by police. The police, after stopping Callaway on August 5 at 2:59 AM in Strongsville, Ohio for a routine traffic violation, reportedly smelled marijuana and searched the car, finding bullets and gun parts in the car.

“Callaway failed to yield to oncoming traffic and a ‘small amount’ of marijuana was found under his seat, reported ESPN.

Callaway, who also was cited for driving with a suspended license, told officers that his car had just been shipped north from Florida, and he denied having smoked any marijuana. Officers said in a police report (via cleveland.com) they smelled the substance when they pulled the 21-year-old over for a traffic violation just before 3 a.m. Sunday in Strongsville, Ohio, and after he agreed to let them search his car, they found a small amount of marijuana under a seat.

Callaway, 21, reportedly already in stage 1 of the NFL’s substance abuse program, is a fourth-round pick expected to vie for a starting receiver position with Cleveland this season.

The Giants game is Cleveland’s first preseason contest, a time when rookie players get to show their worth.

Callaway played at Florida and was arrested while on the Gators football team.
