Pep Guardiola promised Man City fans that their team would secure a place in the top-four of the English Premier League.

Manchester City lost on Sunday to Arsenal two points to one in the semifinals of the Football Association Cup. The loss, which was suffered in extra time, secured coach, Pep Guardiola, the first season in his managerial career without a trophy. Guardiola assured City fans that the disappointing season was behind them. The Manchester Derby is on Thursday. Losing to rivals, Manchester United, would drop Man City out of the top four places in the English Premier League and out of the Champions League places.

“Congratulations to Arsenal and Chelsea for reaching the final. We will improve. Next season we will be stronger,” said Guardiola. “We made a good cup competition with all the games away, We arrived here and created more chances than the opponent and hit the post and the finishing… it was a bit like what happened [in other matches] this season. The team does not need to do a lot of things [differently], we have some problems to score but we played like we want and that’s all. So in the end we are sad today, but tomorrow we have to stand up and finish the games we have still to play. We have a big game on Thursday and today we played like we should do and I have no regrets.”
